ANSWERS

1. Is SouthStar a licensed contracting company?

YES: We are actually asked this question more often than most people think; but yes, we are licensed as a contracting company by the Texas Workforce Commission.

2. Is SouthStar insured?

YES: As a result of the obligations of a previously completed job, we were required to purchase one million dollars worth of insurance.

3. Is SouthStar able to perform HVAC diagnosis?

YES: HVAC (Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning) diagnosis has become one of the latest additions to SouthStar's services. Because many of our customers are unaware that we do this, it isn't performed very often. Other than the installation of the equipment, we can assist you in your heating and cooling needs.

4. Is SouthStar able to perform home inspections?

NO: SouthStar is able to construct, remodel, and repair according to current codes, or to supervise subcontractors. Although we are aware of most State requirements, a home inspector is a professional geared to make an individual evaluation and judgment for each home inspection.
In addition, State laws limit the inspection process by setting specific boundaries and giving procedural guidelines. For these reasons, SouthStar recommends using a professional home inspector.

5. Can Southstar create drafting plans for a remodel or renovation project?

YES: SouthStar usually creates their building plans from the main office. Co-founder John Meyer graduated from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Architectural Studies, so he is experienced enough to know the details and requirements of drafting services.

6. Does SouthStar offer a 24-hour emergency service?

NO: Although some exceptions are made -- leaking water heaters for example -- we usually don't offer a 24-hour emergency service. However, we can make service calls after work hours if there is an urgent or serious problem and you have notified SouthStar of a meeting time and place.

7. What is Quote Pro?

Quote Pro is an Excel-based program used to create a tentative cost for specified services without the need for a walk-through. However, it will generally be intended for the use of real estate agents with their make-readys.
