ABOUT THE COMPANY
|
SouthStar is a fairly new company founded by John Meyer and Jim "Bodie" Riley early in the summer of 2001. Although there are only two three-man crews currently working for SouthStar, this is three-times as many employees since the company started. SouthStar has expanded to the surrounding cities and is slowly increasing its success as a business. Even the brunt of September 11 and the after effects of consumer purchasing did not break the company when it was still trying to gain success.
Since then, SouthStar has done work for such real estate agencies as Century 21, Ebby Halliday, and Alpha Reality and residents of Arlington, Cedar Hill, Dallas, DeSoto, Duncanville, Garland, Grand Prairie, Irving, Lancaster, Midlothian, Red Oak, Rockwall, and Waxahachie. However, we don't plan to stop there; expansion is one of the significant keys to SouthStar's success, and we hope to continue our growing trend.

ABOUT THE EMPLOYEES
|
John Meyer Born and raised in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, John Meyer graduated from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies. Soon after graduation, this All-American swimmer fell into the world of entrepreneurship; John co-founded a high-rise security company out of Tulsa known as Co Serv. This company became very successful, but after he and his partner decided to part ways, John left the company and almost immediately started another of his own, this time in Texas. He and his long time swim partner Jim Riley decided to take a chance with SouthStar.
Jim "Bodie" Riley Jim Riley grew up just a few miles from where he now works: in South Dallas. After attending the University of Texas at Arlington, "Bodie" worked as a sheetrocker for several years. When John approached him with the idea of starting a new company, "Bodie" -- already with a great deal of experience and knowledge -- jumped at the chance. As for the name "Bodie", it comes from a nickname that he had as a child: Jim Bo.
Philip Otterson Currently attending the University of Texas at Arlington for his degree in Architecture, Philip has been with SouthStar since the Fall of 2001. As the youngest employee of SouthStar, Philip looks to his more experienced co-workers for the expertise to strengthen his knowledge of the trade.
Dave Riley As the younger brother of co-founder Jim, Dave Riley has been with SouthStar since the Summer of 2002. After moving down from Tennessee, Dave found work quickly through his brother and has learned the basics of the job. Yet, he is still learning the more difficult aspects of the job everyday.
Shawn Hinton As the newest member of SouthStar, Shawn has the most to learn. He -- like Philip -- is also balancing his work and school life, because he is currently attending Devry University.
